"Women of Valor... Living a Spirit Filled Life Through Fasting and Prayer"

Our Mission Statement

The Mary E. May Intercessory Prayerline Ministry, Inc. and the Prayer Partners assemble daily by telephone to intercede through prayer, studying God's word and to offer praises to Him.

"Therefore, I ask first of all that supplication prayer, intercessory and giving thanks be made for all men."

I Timothy 2:1

The Ministry actually started in 1978 in the midst of Mary E. May constantly praying to God and asking, "Lord, what is it You would have me do for You?" Her prayer was answered when she was approached by an unknown lady that asked her to start a Children's Bible Study Group; feeling somewhat challenged, Mrs. May offered to gather the children and use her home but only with the assistance of the "stranger". The unknown lady came only once to a bible study and was never seen again. Mary E. May is convinced until this day that the lady was actually an angel sent by God, therefore, she continued by faith, the Saturday Evening Children's Bible Study in her home until God gave her a higher calling.

God then spoke to her to start a prayer Ministry where she worshipped at Peace Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, starting only with herself and one other lady, Sister Ruby Hayes (who's now gone to be with the Lord). For the next several years they continued to meet every Saturday morning at 5:00 a.m. Again, the Lord spoke to her heart to "move", the ministry. They then began to meet each Saturday morning at the Prison Crusade Ministry where theywitnessed many miracles and blessings.

God then spoke to Sister May to start an intercessory prayerline at her home each morning and with herself~ Sister Ruby Hayes and Sister Elenora Edwards. They prayed each morning starting at 4:00 a.m. By now the three had grown to eighteen and allowing her to start another session of intercessory prayer at 5:15 a.m. Each line had 12 prayer warriors. God then opened the door for four (4) prayer warriors, praying from 6:30?7:00 a.m. specifically for our nation and national leaders.

Sister May is still contacted from people all across the nation and constantly prays for all, she is never too busy to pray.

The Ministry has taken many strides since its hurnble beginnings:

  • 1991 - The "Cruise For Jesus," a cruise to the Bahamas where many were saved and worshipped in the presence of the Holy Spirit.

  • 1992 - The "Cruise For ksus:" being such a success, repeated the following year. The first Annual "Joy To The World" Prayer Brunch.

  • 1994 - The prayerline became incorporated and formed a Board of Directors: Mary E. May, President; Ozie L. Brown, Vice President; Ollie Mutcherson, Josephine Townsend, Joan Dawson, LaFran Reddin and Shirley Monroe are Board Members.

  • 1995 - Gwen McCree of Gwen's School of Music was led by the Spirit to offer her building to the Prayerline Ministry for a meeting place.

  • The Pastoral Advisory Council was added consisting of the following: Rev. W. F. Leonard, Rev. Abe Brown, Bishop James Howell and Rev. Thomas Scott.

  • 1997 - Theodore Taylor, Esq. Became the Ministry's Legal Advisor.

  • Launched the first Annual "Women of Valor" Prayer Conference.

  • 1998 Mary Smith, of Atlanta, GA was added to the Board of Directors.

The Prayerline works now begin at 4:00 a.m. daily with Sister Ozie Brown as Chair calling Sister May. Then begin the 4:30 a.m. line connecting with twelve (12) warriors. Six thirty (6:30) a.m. line petition prayers are sent up daily for our world leaders and public workers. The chain continues with the 1:00 p.m. line mostly counseling senior adults.

Being obedient to God's word, the ministry expanded to include the Annual Joy to the World Brunch, first held on the second Saturday in December 1992. In mid?summer 1997, a vision came to Sister May to start a scholarship in honor of Sister Ozie Brown's son, Alton Pierre Bass. The idea was presented to the Board and accepted, so in December 1997 at the Prayer Brunch, Sister May introduced the scholarship to the audience and work began to make it a reality.

The first scholarship was presented to Jimmie Caldwell, Jr. at the December 1998 Prayer Brunch. As the vision continues under the watchful eyes of God, we are expecting the scholarship fund to grow into a Scholarship Foundation to the Glory of God. As each task in the ministry is accomplished, God continues to inspire its obedient leader to step out on faith, and in 1997 the First Annual Women of Valor, a two?day Conference was held. The Father has opened yet another door for his word to spread to his children as the Conferences are expanded to include a Men's conference and a Children's Conference, which was held in December 1998.

We often get caught up in the hype of the Holiday Season and forget the reason we celebrate.  We are committed to stay focused on the reason we celebrate, not just during Christmas Holiday, but every day as prayers and the study of God's word go forth for his people. The Mary E. May Prayerline Intercessory Ministry, Inc. is still trusting in the Lord as we look back and continue to share the original Scripture from Matt. 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." You are invited to join us in daily prayer, and at the annual conferences and the Brunch as God continues to reveal himself to us, his children, through his works and word. May God Bless each of you.

Our standing Scripture through the 22 years remain Mark 11:24, "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you will receive them, and you will have them." We walk by Faith and Not by Sight.

So you can see what God has done with this Ministry from the very beginning and He's still blessing it by sending good and faithful members who He can use to fulfill His wondrous works. Continue to pray for us as we pray for you.
